Strangeness Production in Microscopic Transport Models
Strangeness production in microscopic transport models for relativistic heavy-ion collisions from SIS to RHIC is reviewed: after a brief introduction into elementary strangeness production processes, the main emphasis is put on strangeness as indicator of the nuclear equation of state, the excitation function of the K/π ratio and strangeness as a deconfinement indicator.
متن کاملNews on Strangeness at Ultrarelativistic Energies - Review of Microscopic Models
We review recent developments in the field of microscopic transport model calculations for ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions. In particular, we focus on the strangeness production, for example, the φ-meson and its role as a messenger of the early phase of the system evolution. Moreover, we discuss the important effects of the (soft) field properties on the multiparticle system. We outline ...
متن کاملCollective effects in microscopic transport models
We give a reminder on the major inputs of microscopic hadronic transport models and on the physics aims when describing various aspects of relativistic heavy ion collisions at SPS energies. We then first stress that the situation of particle ratios being reproduced by a statistical description does not necessarily mean a clear hint for the existence of a fully isotropic momentum distribution at...
متن کاملCorrelating Strangeness enhancement and J / ψ suppression in Heavy
It is shown that the strangeness enhancement and the J/ψ anomalous suppression patterns observed in heavy ion collisions at top SPS energy, √ sNN = 17.2 GeV, exhibit an interesting correlation if studied as a function of the transverse size of the interaction region. The onset of both phenomena seems to occur when the size exceeds ≈ 4 fm. Strangeness enhancement is defined in terms of the stran...
متن کاملStrangeness suppression of qq creation observed in exclusive reactions.
We measured the ratios of electroproduction cross sections from a proton target for three exclusive meson-baryon final states: ΛK(+), pπ(0), and nπ(+), with the CLAS detector at Jefferson Lab. Using a simple model of quark hadronization, we extract qq creation probabilities for the first time in exclusive two-body production, in which only a single qq pair is created. We observe a sizable suppr...
